MasayaOur Change Champion, Bishop Tapfumaneyi Masaya, who was abducted in Mabvuku while campaigning, has been found dead. They recalled a legitimately elected MP of Mabvuku, Hon. Kufa. Today, this has cost an innocent life. He shall have justice. @Cde_Ostallos

The dictatorship in Zimbabwe is nothing but an oppressive barbaric & murderous group of thugs. Bishop Tapfumaneyi Masaya who was abducted by ZanuPF agents on Nov 11 was today found dead. What government does this? How is anyone inspired by this callousness? Justice will be served for Masaya and others. We must never forget this💔💔💔RIP Bishop T. Masaya. @PastorEvanLive

The truly despicable Zanu PF thugs are beyond redemption. We have said this time & time again that Zanu PF are ruled by psychopaths - who need to be institutionalised in order to protect the electorate. This is NOT politics - this is MURDER @ZHRO_Zimbabwe

Deeply saddened by the tragic loss of CCC activist Tapfumanei Masaya. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends during this difficult time. May his dedication to change and the pursuit of justice be remembered. 🕊️ #RIPMasaya #RIPTapfumaneiMasaya. @SouthendCcc

We should refuse getting used to the shedding blood of any Zimbabwean. This is not a partisan political issue. It is a matter of human dignity. It is against our culture. It is against our beliefs. It is against our laws.
No more shedding of blood. It's enough!!

Devastating news that Pastor Tapfumanei Masaya has been murdered. My heart breaks for Zimbabwe. But I also know justice will come one day. As Archbishop Tutu always said of the fight against apartheid, ‘God’s mills may grind slowly but they grind very fine all the same’

Terrible, Terrible news. This is not good. What is even worse is that there will be no arrests and proper prosecution of the known Zanu PF members that have done this terrible deed.

Mnangagwa (Mutapa) Investment Fund

Cartoon with the Crocodille - MnangagwaEmmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa:

Recently elected HIMSELF through electoral rigging and as seen as the illegitimate leader of Zimbabwe, Mnangagwa continues his 'legacy' of destroying, looting and abuse of power. For the past 6 years he has been in power, there is so much evidence that Zimbabwe has been in it's worst state ever, with no development at all and the country is going back into the 'old' age. [see Amnesty International, This Website and ZHRO's articles.]

One of the CCC member's (activist Simbarashe Jingo) made a comment on how unconstitutional this move, to change from Sovereign Wealth Fund of Zimbabwe to Mutapa Investment Fund is proof that he is on a looting spree, as he describes that this is a "looting vehicle" that will be "one of the biggest loots ever in Zimbabwe".

It is recorded that Zimbabwe is losing over a billion dollars {$1,000,000,000} each year to looting, corruption and Mnangagwa being the king pin. Mnangagwa has done nothing to change the lives of Zimbabwe but only corruption and 'crushing' his opponents.

Former Finance Minister of Zimbabwe, Tendai Biti, on his interview with Heart and Soul said, the SI {Statutory Instrument} brought 20 state entities under one roof.

"The instrument does not meet the test of law and must be rejected as it is illegal. This law was unnecessary,” Biti said.

“They are transferring the public shares into a private vehicle. The government already owns the shares, I think the issue is to sell shares as quickly as possible without public scrutiny.”

A Sovereign Wealth Fund, according to Mt Pleasant MP, Fadzayi Mahere, is a state-owned investment fund comprised of money generated by the government through, for example, surplus reserves from state-owned natural resource revenues, trade surpluses, bank reserves that accumulate from budgeting excesses, foreign currency operations or money that accrues from privatization projects.

Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, nicknamed "The Crocodile" due to his Crocodile "farm" {where all the bodies are disposed of -allegedly} seen in this cartoon, aptly encapsulating the new Mutapa Wealth Fund.

PRESS STATEMENT

Date: 27 August 2023

On Wednesday 23 August 2023, under the administration of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC), our nation bore witness to an election marred by vote suppression and egregious abuse. The SADC report transparently highlighted these transgressions for the global community.

Despite these overwhelming odds, the resilient Zimbabwean people came forward in vast numbers, casting their votes in hope of a brighter and better future. For the sake of that elder woman who walked 2km and waited in line for two whole days to cast her vote, we will not rollover and accept fictitious lies.

However, tonight, as ZEC declared their results, discrepancies have become glaringly apparent. The outcomes did not align with the evidence from our V11's, a stark deviation that underscores the need for scrutiny. The concerning absence of our presidential candidate's chief election agent's signature casts a shadow of doubt over the entire process. The questionable actions of some ZANU PF officials, who seemingly were privy to results in advance, further tarnish the credibility and transparency of these elections. We fear that this once-respected institution can no longer be depended upon to safeguard our votes and our democracy.

The Election Observer Mission's preliminary report further echoes our concerns, pinpointing significant deviations from both national and international electoral standards. We unequivocally condemn the continued intimidation faced by our agents. Some were unjustly recalled by ZEC with the intent of amending the electoral results, an act that goes against the very essence of a democratic process.

In response to these challenges, the CCC has initiated a comprehensive citizen's review of the vote count. This endeavor is firmly rooted in hard evidence collected from all regions of Zimbabwe. Our grassroots movement, made up of brave volunteers, endures intimidation, harassment, and violence. Yet, our commitment to uncovering the truth remains undeterred. ZEC's recent announcement only serves to galvanize our resolve further.

In due course we will address our nation, illuminating the path forward. Our unwavering allegiance to the millions of Zimbabweans advocating for transformative change is as steadfast as ever. We firmly believe that united, with truth as our compass and justice as our goal, we can and will usher in the change our nation profoundly desires.

In closing. I appeal to all champions of democracy: our quest is noble and just. Let's remain resolute in our collective pursuit. A new chapter in our shared struggle awaits.

Here are six key takeaways from #GoldMafia

Clean Gold? There’s no such thing

No matter where you buy your gold and regardless of the country’s stamp on it, the very nature of the gold trade makes it extremely difficult to guarantee where it originated from.

The investigation showed how gold smuggled from Zimbabwe makes its way to Dubai and, according to experts in money laundering and illicit trade, is then exported to other major gold hubs like Switzerland and London.

These transfers are possible because gold is melted and refined repeatedly, a process that obfuscates all traces of its origin, making it particularly difficult for law enforcement agencies to build evidence against suspected smugglers.

Al Jazeera Graphic ED MnangagwaThis also means it is hard to be certain if gold purchased on the open market is ethically and legally clean or whether it is free of laundering and crime. A watch might have been made with gold from a conflict region, or a bar of gold may have been mixed with smuggled gold.

Amjad Rihan, a former partner at the consulting firm Ernst & Young, was responsible for auditing Dubai-based Kaloti a decade ago when it was one of the largest gold refineries in the world. He was blunt in his assessment. “Gold that comes to refiners, once it’s refined, it’s practically brand new gold,” he told Al Jazeera.

Chamisa sets Tough Conditions

WhatsApp Image 2023 02 21 at 15.19.24 1OPPOSITION Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party has set tough literacy conditions for selection into local authorities, Parliament and Senate, including need for community track record on local governance matters.

According to an internal party document titled, ‘Citizens And Community Consensus Candidate Selection Procedures’ seen by The Standard, relevant professional qualifications will be a prerequisite for candidates willing to stand for mayoral, parliamentary committee and council chairperson positions. Mayors, deputy mayors, council chairpersons and committee chairpersons at both Local Government and Parliamentary levels would also undergo an “aptitude” test to assess their ability to take the leadership positions.

Parliamentary candidates should be able to read and interpret legislation and national policies, while council candidates must have the ability to read and interpret council legislation, administrative by-laws, and policies, according to the party guidelines. CCC deputy secretary for elections Ellen Shiriyedenga told The Standard in an interview yesterday that this would enhance efficiency and productivity in the governance system.

“For example, one cannot be the chairperson for the finance parliamentary portfolio committee when they do not have a strong background in economic or financial issues,” Shiriyedenga said.

“Without professional experience in the field, one may not be able to comprehend the issues raised and will fail to address the problems arising. “So, setting those literacy requirements is a way of ensuring maximum productivity.”

Zanu PF yesterday held its primary elections to select parliamentary and local authority candidates to represent the party in the upcoming elections set for July or August.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa is yet to proclaim the election dates.

In its document, the CCC said it had anchored its candidate selection on the grassroots to give ordinary citizens the authority to select representatives of their choice.

“Zimbabwe is no exception to the increased global sentiment for citizen inclusion and leadership accountability in all governance spheres,” part of the CCC document reads.

“In response to this growing sentiment, the citizens’ movement seeks to present candidates that are a product of broad citizen consultations and inclusion in an effort to entrench the new culture of citizen engagement, participatory democracy and democratic accountability.”

In an interview with The Standard yesterday, CCC leader Nelson Chamisa said the community-based candidate selection process was to avoid imposing candidates on the electorate.

“Zanu PF looks for a leader who wants to lead the people, but we want a leader whom the people want,” Chamisa said.

“Zanu PF wants its candidates to submit curriculum vitaes, but we focus on community track record — what are the people saying about the leader they want?

“Zanu PF wants individuals with financial prosperity, but we are concerned with personality.

“We are putting emphasis on citizens’ participation. “There will be no imposition of candidates. The power is with the citizens. “Where there are ties between candidates, citizens will still be expected to decide on their own the best candidate.”
